Sarah-Jane graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1998. She worked as a locum in New Zealand and then set up Living Osteopathy in Central Auckland about six years ago.

Sarah-Jane has completed three terms as Director of Post Graduate Study to the Osteopathic Society of New Zealand (OSNZ). During this time she has been working with other committee members on bringing quality post-graduate courses for the members of the OSNZ. She has been involved in developing Core Competencies as outlined by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ), the set up of the Directory and Diary for Members, the Welcome Pack and the Inaugural Ball held in December 2006.

TREASURER

Max Belcher

Max graduated in 1983 from the Pacific College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sydney. He joined the NZRO in 1984 and held the role of Treasurer several times.

He is currently the OSNZ treasurer and enjoys taking an active role in all aspects of the Society.

He formed Whangarei Treatment Providers Ltd in 2003 with his wife, Shirley and Christophe Pallies. Max’s treatment approach is broad spectrum involving structural and OCF but with an increasing involvement with using the concepts and style of osteopathy that Dr Robert Fulford was engaged in. He also has a long involvement with Homeopathy and has a synergistic relationship with other practitioners when treating patients to achieve fast resolution.

Spare time is devoted to increasing the wealth for the OPEC nations and ensuring the Marlborough and Martinborough areas flourish.

Sarah-Jane’s wish is to continue to establish top quality courses and a variety of speakers, alongside assisting with the day to day running of the society. She hopes that we can offer a greater ‘family’ for the osteopathic students and new graduates should they wish it.

DIRECTOR OF POST-GRADUATE STUDY

Pili Munoz   B.App.Sc(Osteo),Grad.Dip(Osteo.Paed)

Pili graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1992. Since then she served a term as the President of the Queensland Branch of the AOA and a term on the Chiropractic & Osteopathic Registration Board in Queensland.

Pili has served three terms on the OSNZ. In this time, she has assisted Sarah-Jane Attias, in bringing quality post-graduate courses for members of the OSNZ, and developed the core competencies as outlined by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ). She has also been involved in the post-graduate education of osteopaths in Australia and New Zealand since 1998 with the SCTF of ANZ. She has been actively involved in the development of the OSNZ Welcome packs, formulating the OSNZ Members Directory and promoting a strong relationship with the osteopathic students at Unitec.

She has a strong vision and passion for the future of osteopathy in NZ.

The Society is working towards furthering our relationship with the OCNZ, overseas osteopathic groups and the Unitec osteopathic students. The Committee is also starting to look at how to promote osteopathy in New Zealand.

REGISTRAR

Kelly Flaherty   B.Sc. M.H.Sc. (Osteopathy)

Kelly graduated from Victoria University, Australia in 2005. Since then she has moved from Melbourne to practice at Marlborough Osteopathic Services in Blenheim.

Kelly, being a fairly new graduate, is still finding her niche in osteopathy and is enjoying treating a widespread range of conditions. She has a special interest in sporting injuries and rehabilitation.

Kelly wishes to enhance the profile of osteopathy within New Zealand and is also working to increase the number of osteopaths practicing in New Zealand, allowing for the osteopathic profession to expand. With this in mind she has, on behalf of the OSNZ, visited Osteopathic Campuses at Australian universities, distributing pamphlets promoting working opportunities in New Zealand and speaking to those graduating.

Kelly has also taken on the portfolio of Sponsorship/Promotions for the Society, and is currently encouraging Peer Groups to support 2 OSNZ sponsored athletes as they compete around New Zealand with the opportunity to promote their own clinic and the profession. 2009 will be an exciting year with other promotional activities.

Richard Moon   Qualified E.S.O. 1988

Came over to N.Z pretty smartish in 1989 largely due to lustful pursuit of Mandy.

Married (who said it wouldn’t last…) with two great kids Becky and Chris.

After precipitous learning curve working for Max (who hasn’t?) between ’89-’91 established own practice in Warkworth. Have been quietly pushing my barrow from then on.

Very general practice, incorporating all the usual stuff. As yet haven’t found a more fulfilling way of turning a dollar.

Interests outside of the factory include charging around on a very large horse. All pedestrian Frenchman be warned.

I am also a keen blade smith much to everyone’s amusement and concern. Commissions considered. Operate a dangerous looking forge whenever I can. It runs on cold beer. All fuel gratefully received.

Have been known to teach and compete at national level Ceroc dance. Other than that, am hot rodding a 1961 Studebaker Hawk (I wasn’t allowed a model fire engine when I was a kid, O.K?) still working on the house (Mandy wants an art studio), life styling 30 acres with flockette of sheep, tasty looking beefies (no, I’m not interested in the vegetarian platter…) and am often tinkering with large Bedford horse truck because that’s what you have to do when you’ve got a large Bedford horse truck.

Now voted onto the Committe at the September 2008 AGM,  I'll continue  the co-opted job of liaising with insurance type people and ACC. Should be fun.

In my spare time I’ve designed (with help) the super-duper practice management system for Osteopaths that can be found at www.quick-as.com

What more can I say…

BSc Ost Med, BSc Biological Science, MSc Bio Aeronautics

I have an interest in ensuring that all practices, especially the smaller ones, have access to information that will allow them to continue to practice safely and effectively in the future. E.g.: Making available guidelines on practice management and procedures, Software to help ACC processing and ongoing relevant training.  I also strongly believe that all Osteopaths should have a greater input to the decision making of the council.

I relax by skiing, biking and looking after my children.

Alison Kerr

Alison joined Fran van Til (e.events limited) in July 2006 and has enjoyed meeting OSNZ members by phone and in person at courses and meetings. She aims to serve members well in her administrative role. Having an office in the relaxed rural setting of Rangiora is a superb bonus!

As Secretary to a rural school Principal for 16 years she was used to wearing many hats simultaneously and notices that this trend has continued!   Married to Lindsay, with 2 adult children and a new grandson, Alison enjoys her family, gardening, walking and cycling for exercise.
